Gatekeepers [IC]

Rim saw but could believe her eye. Jimi was a gatekeeper. Rim didn't have time to think about it any more another attack was coming and this was far worse. They were transforming. " My god there’s still enough of them to transform." She couldn’t believe it but she had to contemplate, they were attacking knew a laser ball was headed straight for her head.

Caleb saw the laser attack headed straight for her, he pushed Rim out of the way, feeling the pain rip through his body like the attack itself, it went straight through him, and his eyes widened, he fell to one knee and looked at the ground. "Nngh…"

She ran over to him, and checked his wound. "You alright?" They didn’t looked bad but neither one of them had time to really access the damage. They were coming.

Caleb held up a finger. "Hold that thought." He patted his chest and got up, stumbling a few times as he did so and nodded. "I'll be fine." He said and looked at their enemies. "…This is bad."

"Yeah and it's about to get worse." Rim knew with one trained gatekeeper and a new awaken on this was going to be no walk in the park. But she had an idea and it was the only thing that would work. "Caleb do you see that red ball in the middle of the monster?”

Caleb looked to one the monsters and saw it, it was barely visible, there was a place with a red sphere in it. He nodded. "Yeah I see it."

"We have to hit. It's their weak point." Rim pulled off her backpack readying herself for what she hoped was the last attack ahead. "Caleb while holding them off with my gate. I want you to use your blades to slice through that red ball. I know it will be hard but if you focus enough you can control the power."

"Consider it done." He smiled as he summoned another exotic blade from his gate. "Gate open" He repeated once more. He began running pushing his sword in front of him.

"Gate Open!" Rim focused as the power of her wind came crashing down on the monster. She could tell it was trying to move but there was no way in hell she was about to let that happen as she turned up the juice. Holding this position wasn’t hard for Rim but she felt bad for Caleb he wasn’t use to summoning his gate and there was no way of knowing how long he could keep his sword materialized.

"Its to late to run now you bastards.” He jumped slicing through monster, the invader screamed in dismay" Deletion detected” And they disappeared. Leaving only he and Rim standing in their wake. "I’ll have those answers now." He said pushing his sword back through his gate. For some odd reason it felt so right.

"Fine lets make this simple. You are a gatekeeper. And them or what left of them are called invaders. They are here to destroy us. Anymore questions? Good come on." She could tell he had a lot more question like where they were going and whom they were going to see. Rim only had on answer. "Yukino"

Yukino was running as fast as she could, in search of Rim and somebody else that she had sensed. She finally slowed down to a stop as she saw Rim and a guy. She looked over at him and then at Rim. "...Rim?" She said in a soft, quiet voice.

"Yukino? What are you doing here I thought you were still staking out the house. " She whispered. She was tired and ready for a cheeseburger.

Caleb remained silent as he watched Rim and the other engaged in an intense conversation.

Yukino stared at Rim. "What do you mean what am I doing?" She sounded a little angry, "I came here to see if you were alright!" Yukino narrowed her eyes at Rim a little.

Rim stared into the face of the angry Yukino. " I'm alright Yukino no need to worry." Rim turn around to look at Caleb. " Yukino meet the new member of A.E.G.I.S. Caleb.”

"Eh…I don't remember ever accepting any membership.” He said crossing his arms, as he looked away.

Rim raised her eyebrow was this guy for real. He had no choice. Well no matter once they got back to HQ the commander would explain every thing to him. Plus with a power like his, he needed training. " Uh huh we'll see about that." turning around Rim picked up her backpack then she said something over her shoulder to him. "Come on you have to come with us. It's not safe out here. But then again maybe you want them to have another crack at you."

"Fine I'll come along" Caleb stated but he wasn’t happy about it. He didn’t know what was going or what he was getting himself involved into but this was these girl were into something like this was too much of a hassle, even for him handle.

Back at HQ Rim filled the commander on the present situation that had occurred, then she told him about Caleb and his newly found power. The commander looked over Caleb over then gave him the very same speech he gave her months back. He told Caleb about A.E.G.I.S and the invader. How A.E.G.I.S benefits the people. And if he didn't join he would be on his own against the invaders. Rim wasn't sure how Jimi was taking all this but she couldn't very well ask him about that now with commander present. Turning her attention back to her superior. When he finished Rim turned back to Jimi. "So what do you say? Want to join?"

"Not like I have a choice at this point" Caleb replied disdainfully. The whole being on his didn’t sound very appealing. "Whatever I'll join." He replied and looked away.

The commander and Rim smiled. Yeah this guy was smart when he wanted to be. The commander handed him his new A.E.G.I.S ID and told Caleb if he every got into any trouble with the cops or Army officials to show them the ID card. Then he turned to Rim and did the one thing she never expected. He ordered her to train Caleb to use his powers. " What about Yukino she far better equipped for the job then me. " the commander shook his head and told her Yukino has her own mission. Rim turned to Jimi. " Looks like were stuck with each other."

Caleb looked to his ID card, looking to Rim and nodded in responded. "It seems so…I guess." He said in response to her comment, he didn't really expect a girl to train him.

Mr. Takehashi the schools math teacher sat in his small apartment. He was here voices and try as he might he couldn't get them out of his head. They kept repeating over and over again. "Come to our world. Come to our world." Takehashi couldn’t take it. "No I'm not one of you. Leave me alone!" But the voices just kept getting louder and louder.

Rim worked Caleb hard for the next couple of day giving him drills and training techniques to use to make it easy to control his power. He never complained and for some reason Rim was surprised. The next day at school, she stood at her locker when she saw Caleb arriving much earlier. Way out of what Rim understood as his normal M.O. " How is that Tatugami’s highs biggest bad boy is early for school?”

Caleb arrived to school with a somewhat serious expression on his clearly tired face, looking to Rim with a soft glare. He turned and got to his books from his locker.
